Background

To get this thing started, I suppose some background info is needed. Pretty sure anyone who reads this knows about me anyway, but just in case you don't:
-I'm currently deployed to "an undisclosed location in Southwest Asia". That's all I'm really allowed to say, especially when posting it to an unsecure website such as this. I'm not even allowed to say how long I'm here for.
-My job is an Aircraft Maintenance Officer, and my official title while out here is the 55th Aircraft Maintenance Unit Officer in Charge
-While in the desert, I have no cell phone and the act of calling back home is such a pain, it doesn't make it worth the effort. Besides, I hate talking on phones anyways. So my main lines of communication to folks back home are by email or Facebook.
-My work schedule while I'm here is 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, with Sunday being my one day off. It may sound rough, but when you're stuck on a small base, there's not a whole lot to do anyways. We are lucky enough here to be able to travel off base if we pre-arrange it and fill out the proper paperwork, so I often go downtown on my day off just to get away for a bit and "relax".
-My typical work day looks something like this:
4:45-6:00am - wake-up, shower, breakfast, etc.
6:00-11:30am - at work, meetings, taking care of daily issues
11:30-12:30pm - lunch
12:30-6:00pm - more work, meetings, etc.
6:00-8:30pm - gym, run, dinner, errands
9:00pm - bedtime
It's an exciting life I have here, I know.
-Throughout my posts, I'll have to keep things relatively vague about what goes on here for operational security purposes. I'll try to include pictures when I can and explain any technical terms common to the military (we're famous for making everything into an acronym).

I think that's about it for now.
