Out with the Old, In with the New

UPDATE: I forgot to mention in the post below that our assignment night got pushed back to this coming Friday, so I still don't know where I'm going to end up just yet

I know, I know...I missed posting yesterday and it's been well over a week since my last post. I've been fairly busy making the most of my time off. I was able to finish RIQ in time to make my pre-planned family vacation out to Vegas for a few days, and I was also able to squeeze in a trip back to Omaha to do a couple things. It was great having some time off, but it definitely took a few days to bounce back from the stress I put on myself to finish the class in time. It's honestly weird having free time again. Thinking about it the other day, my life used to be focused on my free time, with work interrupting it...but lately it's been focused on work so much, with little free time interrupting it, that I've forgotten how to make the most of my free time! Also, it's kind of like being back in the Desert again down here, in that it's still 90 something degrees until 10pm. Makes it tough to try and go running outside in the afternoon.

After my trips I came back here to San Antonio in time to start my next training course, RPA Fundamentals Course (or RFC, for short), which started this past Thursday. In this course, we actually start getting into the details of what we're going to be working with when we get done with all of the training. A majority of the class covers classified material, so I won't/can't discuss any details. What I CAN say is that the course has traditionally mixed the pilots(officers) and sensor operators(enlisted) together, however, we were told that we'll be one of the last classes to be combined like this because they're apparently eliminating it from the sensor operator training pipeline. So from here on out, it'll just be the pilots. As far as what's covered in the four weeks (in generic terms, of course), it's like a crash course in war operations, command and control, and some RPA basics. I don't know about the other guys in my class, but I'm looking forward to learning something outside of flying for a little bit.
