The Air Force Roller Coaster

My classmates and I got our orders this past week. Well, we got the notification of our impending orders. Our orders haven't been made up yet, hence my "roller coaster" quip in the title...meaning we get some information, but not all of the information, so it's excitement, then let-down, etc. But, we all know WHEN we're leaving for our next bases now, which is nice to know. At least this way we can all start planning a little more and start looking more seriously at places to live. So, lots to do in the next few weeks...but first, we have to finish up RFC!

This past week we took the last two of our three tests, and everyone in my section but one person (10 of 11) got 100%'s on the very last test. Nothing cosmic. It's a bit of a load off knowing that we're finally done with being tested and quizzed and checked from now until we start our FTUs (which we still don't have dates for). This last week of RFC is just going over some more RPA basics and doing a short war gaming exercise. This past Friday was pretty fun, though, as we went up to Camp Bullis to have a sort of "Army Appreciation Day", where we did some crash course training in convoys (in a convoy simulator, of all things), IEDs, and urban warfare. I find it kind of funny that the first time I ever shoot an M-16/M-4 is with blanks at an Army Base...

I got to sit at the .50 cal position

All that's left is this week's exercise before our graduation on Friday afternoon. After that, it's back to "moving" mode as I figure out how to out-process and get to Vegas (as well as find a place to live out there!). As long as I can get TMO scheduled right and get all my stuff packed up, it should be smooth sailing...should being the key word there...
